What You Should Expect From Your CPA
One of the challenges I’ve faced throughout my career was finding the right professional advisors I could trust to help me build my practice. Over the years I was lucky to have found a few dedicated advisors that really helped me grow my business. I think about this often because as a CPA, I’m that trusted advisor to my clients.
Business owners and professionals who engage us depend on us to give them straightforward, accurate and timely help so that they can grow their business or practice. We take this responsibility as a sincere personal commitment, and not just as a business arrangement.
I always thought that the only real driving issue with business owners when it came to their CPA was saving money on taxes. Nobody wants to pay more to the IRS than they have to and every business owner wants to feel confident that they are getting the best advice. But that’s not the whole picture. What my clients want is not so much “tax savings” as it is straightforward communication, timely and accurate results, and mutual trust.
We fully appreciate how important flexibility is to our clients. Not every business owner wants to just turn everything over to their CPA. To stay competitive, our clients are always looking for ways to save money and improve efficiencies. Some of our clients prefer having us do all their accounting and bookkeeping, while others choose only the outside support from us that’s just right for their needs.
We also learned from our clients that we’re doing what they want and expect from a trusted advisor. We meet our deadlines, generate accurate work, personally review everything before it goes out, answer all your questions, return calls the same day and we all know each client individually. We’re doing what you should expect from your CPA.
